Dear Parents

It was wonderful to see so many of you at our Nursery Sports’ Afternoon!  I am sure that you will agree with me that it was a most memorable afternoon and it was a delight to watch all the children and their families relishing the occasion.

Foals 1

This month in Foals 1, the babies have been making the most of the sunshine and exploring the outdoors. We had an outing to the Memorial Park Gardens where we enjoyed the sandpit and had a go on the swings. We have also been out in our garden area where we have been using the watering cans to water the herbs.

Foals 2

The children have had a busy time keeping cool in Foals 2!  The little ones had great fun playing with the new shape sorter, taking great pride in themselves when they had achieved what they set out to do.

We have been practising our scooping and pouring skills, whilst enjoying splashing in the water.  The children also enjoyed playing with ‘gloop’ and exploring different textures.

Yearlings

The Yearlings have been enjoying learning about “Under the Sea”.  We have been exploring lots of different crafts including ‘welly boot bubble wrap painting’. We have also been exploring the Memorial Park Gardens and particularly enjoyed the new sensory wall.

Ponies 1

Ponies 1 have enjoyed learning about colours in Spanish this month. The children have helped to create a colour box which is filled with various coloured objects and, with some guidance, they talk about what colour they are in Spanish. Ponies have also been discussing ‘People Who Help Us’ as our room topic and we have created a display board based on the different people who help us.

Ponies 2

Ponies 2 have really been enjoying the last two weeks and the lovely weather we have been having. We have been able to explore our outdoor environment much further and, as the school children are off on their school holidays, we have been able to experience the playing field and the larger climbing apparatus. This was a great learning curve for some of the children!  They have all had a wonderful opportunity in developing their gross motor skills and core strength. This has also encouraged their determination, focus and self-confidence.
We have been using our kitchen role play area, where many meals and cups of tea have been busily being prepared. The ‘sand tea’ comes highly recommended!
Our outdoor stage has seen many musical performances too. Ponies 2 have been expressing themselves wonderfully and demonstrating such lovely attention on each other’s performances, whilst taking it in turns and sharing wonderfully.
We’re looking forward to much more fun over the summer!

Collecting Your Child From Nursery

A polite reminder that, once you have collected your child from the Nursery, please be mindful that you need to keep your child with you at all times and that you are responsible for your child after collection.  Thank you.

School Uniform

We have been made aware that that there is a delay in ordering summer dresses from Mr Cricket.  We have been assured by Mr Cricket that the dresses will be available as soon as possible.  Please note that the children may only wear summer dresses purchased from Mr Cricket and not from other school uniform suppliers.  Thank you.

School Day Time Change for Fairstead House School

From September, the school day times for children currently attending Fairstead House School will change.  All school children will now finish at 4.00pm in the afternoon.  Please note that this does not affect the Nursery school day, which will continue to finish at 3.30pm.

With my best wishes for a lovely summer with your children,

Lynda Brereton
