Dear Parents

I was thrilled to accompany some of our youngest children on an exciting adventure to Phantom House Stables recently!  We were given a tour of the Yard and met the horses. The children were especially delighted to meet Percy the Labrador, who was very happy with all the attention!

Foals 1

This week in Foals 1, the babies have had fun exploring the colourful, sensory ball pit. They have had lots of fun developing their throwing skills.

Foals 2

The children have been very interested in dinosaurs lately, so we have taken this on board when planning activities for them. There has been some wonderful dinosaur dancing; stomping, chomping, crunching and munching!  They have also been explorers, looking for dinosaurs underneath some marvellous soap foam. Continuing the theme in mark-making, the children have painted a huge dinosaur for our display board, and also used water and sponges to make a chalk dinosaur disappear.

Yearlings

The Yearlings have been busy using their cutting and squeezing skills to make a fruit smoothie. They were all eager to help make the smoothie and even more excited to try some.

The Yearlings have also been on their first trip out of the Nursery together! They went for a walk around Newmarket, explored the Library, the park and St. Gatien Stables. The children had great fun and particularly enjoyed saying hello to the horses.

Ponies 1

Ponies 1 have been exploring our new topic of ‘The Three Little Pigs’, where they have created the three different houses using various resources. The Ponies cut up yellow paper to create straw, collected sticks from the garden and made bricks using different shapes dipped in brown paint. We’ve also been making pig puppets, assembling these out of various shapes and adding funny faces to help our re-telling of the popular story.

Ponies 2

Ponies 2 have thrown themselves into their new topic with great enthusiasm.  They have honed their gross and fine motor skills to build and decorate their own rocket and space helmets, and are looking forward to exploring space across all areas of the curriculum. Prepare for blast off!

Nursery Gates

When you are entering or leaving the Nursery, please could you ensure that you close (and bolt if applicable) the gates behind you?  Thank you for your co-operation.

World Book Day

World Book Day will be on Thursday 7th March.  To help us make the most of this day, celebrating all things literary, we invite all the children to come to Nursery dressed as a character from a favourite book.  Hopefully, your child will be able to bring a copy of the book that inspired their costume to share with the class (ideally, not a Disney character!).

The Fairstead House Parents’ Association

Our Parents’ Association warmly invite all Nursery parents to join us at a Family Bingo Night on Friday 15th March at 6.30pm to 8.00pm the School Hall.  Tickets are £10 per family and will be available on the door.  The Parents’ Association will be selling pizza and soft drinks for the children and you are very welcome to bring your own wine or beer.  I am sure that this will be a most enjoyable evening!  Please contact the School Office for further information.

Looking further ahead, the Parents’ Association hope that as many of you as possible will be able to attend our Summer Ball, held this year at Tattersalls on Friday 17th May.  More information will follow shortly.

Congratulations!

Our congratulations this month go to the Fountain family, who welcomed baby Charlotte, the Wood family who welcomed baby Arthur and the Griffiths family who welcomed baby George.

With my best wishes,

Lynda Brereton
