Dear Parents
As the Easter Holidays are rapidly approaching in the School, this is an ideal time for me to wish you all a very happy Easter with your family and friends. Our annual Easter tradition of having a visit from three Easter bunnies will take place next Friday! All the children in Nursery on that day will meet the bunnies and will receive a small gift to take home.
A timely reminder for those of you whose children attend the Nursery on a term time only basis that Fairstead House term finishes on Friday 5th April and the Summer term begins on Monday 29th April. If you would like your child to attend the Nursery during the Easter holidays, then please contact Mrs Lucie Melen for availability.
Please also note that the Nursery will be closed on Good Friday (Friday 19th April) and on Easter Monday (Monday 22nd April). Thank you.
Foals 1
In Foals 1, the babies have been getting messy preparing our Mothers’ Day gifts. The babies used paints and various tools to explore their senses and hone their fine motor skills.
Foals 2
Foals 2 have been using their fine motor skills with some “mess-free” fudge making! We checked all the ingredients and they were all put in a freezer bag (doubled bagged!). Then we mixed it all together by squashing, squeezing and patting the bag as preferred. As it was quite sugary, we decided to send it home and let the parents decide who was allowed to eat it! It was delicious and we hope that you enjoyed it. Do let us know if you would like the recipe!
Yearlings
The Yearlings children have been learning about farms. We have been exploring our farm sensory tray with lots of different textures and animals. The Yearlings have also enjoyed exploring the dressing up clothes and often have lots of fun dressing up and playing together.
Ponies 1
Ponies 1 have been exploring Spring this week. We have been observing the flowers growing in the garden, smelling them and talking about what they need to grow. We have also been exploring planting flowers and plants in our planting tray, using the spades to dig the soil and finding lots of different things hiding in the tray such as pretend wiggly worms!
Ponies 2
Ponies 2, or ‘Astronauts’ as we are currently calling ourselves, are having a stellar time learning all about Space this half term. There are lots of different activities and experiences available for the children to explore.
The children particularly enjoyed sharing their learning with the Chair of Governors, Jonny Edge, when he visited today. Mr Edge was enrolled into the Space Station and became an astronaut for the morning!
Bringing Food into the Nursery
Please can we remind parents not to send your child into the Nursery with any food. We have several children in the Nursery with severe allergies and we need to be extremely vigilant to ensure that they are not exposed to certain foods.
You are very welcome to send your child into school with a birthday cake on their special day but please ensure that the ingredients are clearly visible for staff to read. Thank you for your understanding.
With my best wishes for a lovely Easter with your children,
Lynda Brereton
