Dear Parents,

We were delighted to welcome our Nursery Manager, Mrs Chloe Franklin, back from maternity leave following the birth of her daughter, Amelie.  Mrs Franklin will be working alongside Mrs Lucie Melen, as joint Nursery Managers.

Foals 1

Over Easter, the babies have been developing their mark making skills. They have been using a wide variety of tools such as paints and dabbers to create different marks on our Easter egg ‘foams’ and producing dinosaur pictures.

Foals 2

Foals 2 children have been exploring their creativity by using a combination of chocolate, eggs and paint.  You can only imagine the creations which were produced and the fun which was had!

Yearlings

The Yearlings children have had lots of fun exploring our outdoor environment and playing alongside friends. We have also enjoyed stories in the library and a special visit from the Easter Bunnies, who brought us some delicious biscuits.

Ponies 1

Ponies 1 have enjoyed lots of different Easter activities, including decorating Easter eggs and other sensory explorations.  The children thoroughly enjoyed an Easter Egg hunt, in the classroom and outside!

Ponies 2

In the lead up to Easter, Ponies 2 were very busy creating their own Easter bonnets and cooking some delicious chocolate Easter Nests.
As the weather was so beautiful, we were lucky enough to be able to take a walk to the new Memorial Park for a fun morning exploring the castle, swings and roundabout, recently opened by Rt. Hon. Matt Hancock, MP.
To finish off our topic on Space, some of the children have created their very own planets and described what makes them special – please do pop in to have a look and a read.
In preparation for our new topic on Dinosaurs, we have transformed the role play area into a ‘dino dig’, where the children can search for bones, follow maps or hide from a T-Rex in the cave. We look forward to a ‘dino-tastic’ half term!

Your Child’s Nursery Bag

Please could we ask parents of children who bring in a Nursery bag to ensure that these are small bags and contain only the items necessary for your child’s day at Nursery only?  For health and safety reasons, these bags need to be hung on the children’s pegs and some bags are too large for us to do this.  Thank you.

Suffolk County Council Early Years Funded Hours Forms

Claim Forms are being sent this week to the parents of children who are eligible to claim the 15 Government funded hours this week.  Please could we ask that you let the School Office know if you currently claim these funded hours with any other childcare provider.  Thank you.

Sun Cream and Sun Hats

As the weather becomes warmer, we will be applying sun cream to the children as necessary.  We do provide a hypo-allergenic children’s sun cream but if you would prefer your child use a particular brand then please do give it (named) to your child’s Room Leader.

Children in the both Ponies 1 and Ponies 2 Rooms need to wear a school sun hat, which will be kept on their peg.  Please note that non-uniform sun hats will not be permitted.  Girls may now wear their summer dresses (available from our Uniform Shop) and boys may wear grey school shorts if they wish.

Telephoning the Nursery

If you would like to telephone the Nursery for any reason, then please make sure that you dial 01638 662318 and select option 3 to be put through to the Nursery.  Please note that the School Office is not open during the school holidays so any message left on the answerphone may not be picked up for several days.

School Day Timings

If your child attends the Nursery for a ‘School Day’, please note that these days begin at 8.30am and finish at 3.30pm.  If you would like your child to remain after 3.30pm, this will be classified as a full day.

If your child is registered to attend Fairstead House School or if you have an older sibling already in school with us, then your Nursery child may remain in the Nursery until 4.00pm without charge (any collection after 4.00pm will be classified as a full day).

Thank you for your understanding.

Parents’ Association Summer Ball

The Parents’ Association and I very much hope that you will be able to join us at the Annual Summer Ball, held this year at Tattersalls.  Please see here for details.

With my best wishes,

Lynda Brereton
